Western N C Flyfishing Sampler

The Tusk - a little too high

The Fish of the Day - With a Little Help from my Friends

Great weekend in Asheville, NC. All streams in PA were very high from the most spring rain in 15 years. We headed to NC to find 75 degrees and beatiful water flows. Stayed at Chateau Riley - great central location and nice digs for a fishing camp. Thanks to Patty for use of the Honda and the wonderful Lamb. (Think she'll loan the Ridgeline to us for Canada with the Boz's?)

Caught rainbows on Stoney Fork Creek, Mineral Creek and Walker Creek on Saturday. Dale and Cyndi joined us Sunday for a trip to the Nanty. Logged the Nanty and Dick's Creek - a Nanty Tributary. Denny landed the monster of the day - a beautiful native brown on the Nantahala. Dam water release was very high - need to come next year and plan around the Dam release and the pending Tsunami.

Monday we hit the Davidson for some intricate midge fishing - size 24 red midge flies and 6X to 7x tippet. Now I know why we only go there once every few years - landed a few Bows but none of the monster Browns.
