Getting Ready on the North Branch
Lower Savage - Too High to Wade
April 8-11, 2011 Brought a group to the fly fishing Mecca known as Garrett County, Maryland. Stayed at some great lodging in Deep Creek - Thanks Mon and Tony. Heavy rain blew everything out for Friday - still landed some late evening stockers on Bear Creek. Saturday - Found a small Brookie Stream in the Savage Watershed - Spring Lick Creek - Everyone had success on the Brookies. Sunday - Drove way back to the upper catch and release section of the North Potomac - High water - still many fish caught. Monday - In the AM made the drive to the MD catch and release section of the Casselman - very nice water. Hiked the big loop behind the Amish Farm - 2000 fish per mile. In the afternoon we tried to hit the lower Savage - still too much water being released - landed a few above the dam. Hot flies of the trip - Vladi, Olive Bugger, Prince
